Baggage management at the airport is a series of some critical procedures loaded with some high-tech device. The operation has to be properly managed in order to maintain the travelers happy and satisfied with the service. This can’t be achieved without conveyors, automatic scanners or the destination-coded vehicles (DCV). These are the latest device just like the prepress equipment or the CTP without which our lives wouldn’t have this speed.

There is an obvious illustration of a successful baggage handling mechanism, check if the bags are preceeding at the same pace as the traveler or not. For example, the luggage is traveling slower than the owner then this will create a lot of trouble for individuals as they have to wait too long for their luggage. It can become even worse if the luggage misses your connecting flight on time.

In the opposite scenario, if the bags move too fast, then again there would be frustration on the passenger’s end. There is a likelihood that the luggage makes it to the connecting flight whereas the passenger misses it. Therefore, there must be a sufficient balance to avoid this. The luggage handling system basically has three tasks that it has to complete accordingly.

For the remaining part of time when you remain at the airport, the baggage remains with you. However, the point that every airport has its own requirements cannot be ignored. The time taken by the passenger to move from check-in region to the gate can vary in multiple airports. For some airports it’s only a walk while in others, the travelers may have to get on a train. The luggage of the passenger should move to the time taken by the passenger to go to the right terminal.

A typical baggage handling operation can incorporate some valuable technologies for the transfer of luggage. The baggage is shifted from the check-in counter to the departure gate in an automated way without any human intervention.

First of all, the destination coded vehicles or the automated carts loads and unloads luggage. There is no human assistance needed in this step and it continues without halting.

Next is the task for the automated scanners that views the labels on the bags, again without any human help.

Then finally, the conveyors loaded with junctions and sorting device channel the luggage to the gate.

All these handling mechanisms are conducted automatically, just imagine, how difficult it would be if heavy luggage of each traveler is carried manually. A baggage handling mechanism can appropriately be compared to a road system in a city in which case the conveyors are the local roads, DCV tracks are highways and your baggage is of course the vehicles. However, as opposed to a road system, the baggage handling mechanism has the freewill to make the decision as to where your baggage will be going.
